FAIRE 2021

5th Edition

Boasting over two hundred applications, FAIRE’s fifth edition confirms the appeal of creators, architects, designers, urbanists, and landscape planners—both established and emergent — for project-based research in the fields of architecture, design, landscape, urbanism, etc. The jury of architects and designers (including several former recipients of the accelerator), gathered around FAIRE’s founding partners — the City of Paris, Caisse des Dépôts, MINI, and EDF — to salute the work of all participants in exploring news ways of thinking and building the city. After auditioning the 30 finalist teams selected by the technical commission (comprised of upwards of sixty experts), the jury opted to select 12 winning projects.

After auditioning the 30 finalist teams selected by the technical commission (comprised of upwards of sixty experts), the jury opted to select 12 winning projects.+

These outstanding projects cover a wide array of today’s key challenges, including solidarity, climate, energy, materials, children in the city, re-use, rurality, etc. The strong concern for project-based urban and architectural research was particularly stimulating and reflects the willingness of participants to experiment with other ways of thinking or building the city, as well as a desire for participatory models and shared approaches.

Many thanks to each and everyone involved in FAIRE 2021, including the participants, the more than sixty participating experts, city stakeholders, past awardees, representatives of the technical departments of the City of Paris and the French Board of Architects, the Paris Urbanism Agency (Apur), the French Landscape Federation (FFP), and Parisian landlords and developers, as well as FAIRE’s partners (Caisse des Dépôts, MINI, EDF), who took the time to review the many projects.
