PROJECT PRESENTATION
We're not alone.
Yet urban space is designed by man and for man alone. With the Covid crisis, Paris' mad rush came to a halt, and we finally listened. What did we hear? Birdsong. We had forgotten they existed.
In a context of global warming, we are convinced that it is profoundly useful to renew our ties with living beings and the ecosystem in which we live. So, how can we renew our relationship with birds in the city?
From a certain point of view, birds are not so different from us. They too need water to hydrate, clean themselves and ultimately survive. However, the artificialization of urban land is compromising access to this essential resource. In summer, heatwaves put birds to the test. In winter, freezing water prevents them from swimming, essential for the maintenance of their plumage. As a result, a little more birds are disappearing from cities every year, as in Paris, where the sparrow population is in freefall.
Conceived as a graft, the Fountain Drop is a device for birds that integrates with the fountain posts already present in Parisian parks and gardens. In this way, the initiative enables us to share our water resources with birds.

Beyond its usefulness in protecting birds, the Fountain Drop is a project for encounters and education. All you have to do is go to a park, sit next to a fountain and wait ten minutes or so to see the sparrows, tits, chaffinches and, no doubt, a few "surprise" guests return to the scene. By promoting the observation and understanding of birds in their urban habitat, this project aims to strengthen collective awareness of our interdependence with living things. Ultimately, the Fountain Drop is a project that aims to change the city and bring us closer to a more desirable future.
The birds are ready. Are you?
PROJECT HOLDERS
We're both final-year students at Strate Ecole de Design: Laure in space design and Baptiste in product design. Passionate about cinema and illustration, we are driven by the desire to tell new stories and bring them to the real world.
La Fontaine goutte d'eau is one of those projects that's always been in the back of our minds. In our portfolios, around the bend in a corridor, over a drink or a meal, the Goutte d'eau Fountain has never left us: "When are we going to do it for real?"
Our participation in the FAIRE competition is motivated by a shared desire to make this project, which is close to our hearts, a reality.
